Why "Big Metal Bird Zone"?
I'm a big kid...and I haven't forgotten the wonder of big airplanes. Yeah, there are small airplanes with propellers, even that small Dehavilland jet with four small jet engines....but you can't beat the large 777's, 747's, 757's and 767's that take off and land at any of the major international airports.
I enjoy working near Dulles Airport only for this reason: daily viewing of large jets taking off or landing.
Ask my brother, and he'll tell you that I periodically call him soon after leaving work to give him the Big Metal Bird Report. During the summer months, when it is still light out when I leave work, I usually see a United Airlines 747 winging its way out of Dulles, probably headed to Germany or points that direction.
Ah well...I guess little boys never quite grow up. We're just big kids.
