747 from Washington to Chicago?

Believe it or not....YES! Who would have ever imagined that such a behemoth as a Boeing 747 would ever stoop to make a short 2-hour domestic hop from Washington to Chicago. That's exactly what happened on March 27, 2007.

I was expecting to hop onto a Boeing 767 for the ride to Chicago, but when I stepped through the doorway of the plane, I was surprised to see a stairway going up. . .WHAT?@?! I didn't know a 767 had two levels. This can't be a 767!!!

The pilot's explanation was that the usual equipment had not arrived, and so we were using the next available plane. Though we left nearly an hour late, we made it to Chicago on time, and with enough time to make our connecting flight...
