Scanner Nut/Recent Bird Sitings
Yep, I'm a scanner nut now. I've been meaning to pick up a radio scanner for years now, and recently saw a good deal at Radio Shack. It's a scanner that picks up not only aircraft frequencies, but also fire/EMS, maritime, weather, and ham radio traffic.
Most of the time, I listen to frequency 128.42 (Dulles Tower), but there are other frequencies of interest in and around the airport (approach, flight level...seem to be their focus).
Recent big birds sited: Antonov cargo plane, Saudi Arabian airlines 747, Lufthansa 747.
Yep, the fun keeps going on.
Today, there was a news article announcing that China had copied the Su-27 fighter for its own domestic use. Small wonder that they've done it. . .and no surprise.
